Considering Daxxify? Here's What I Tell My Patients Before They Decide

One of the questions I hear most often in my Louisville practice is, "What makes Daxxify different?"

While all wrinkle relaxers use botulinum toxin type A to soften expression lines, each product has unique characteristics. During consultations, I spend time helping patients understand those differences so they can make an informed decision based on their goals-not marketing claims.

Here's what I tell my patients before they decide if Daxxify is right for them.

I Don't Believe There's One "Best" Neurotoxin...

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is the idea that one wrinkle relaxer is automatically better than another.

The truth is, there isn't one "best" neurotoxin for everyone.

Every patient has different anatomy, muscle strength, treatment history, and aesthetic goals. My job isn't to recommend the newest product—it's to recommend the product that's the best fit for you.

So...What Is Daxxify?

Like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, Daxxify is made with botulinum toxin type A, which temporarily relaxes the facial muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles like:

• Forehead lines

• Frown lines (11s)

• Crow's feet
  

Where Daxxify stands apart is its formulation.

Botox and Dysport contain accessory proteins surrounding the active neurotoxin molecule. Daxxify is formulated differently. It removes those unnecessary accessory proteins while using a proprietary peptide to stabilize the active ingredient.

It also contains no human serum albumin or other human-derived components.

While patients don't necessarily notice those differences during treatment, they are one of the reasons Daxxify has become an exciting option in aesthetic medicine.

Why I Often Recommend Daxxify

One of the reasons I like Daxxify is because I think long-term.

I joke with my patients that I'm a little "greedy" when it comes to neurotoxin results.

I don't just want your treatment to look great today...I want you to continue getting consistent, predictable results for years to come.

Because Botox and Dysport contain accessory proteins, some research suggests certain patients may develop resistance to those proteins over time. While that doesn't happen to everyone, it's something I keep in mind when helping patients choose the right neurotoxin.

For patients who have previously been treated with Botox® or Dysport (or those who are concerned about long-term resistance) I often recommend Daxxify or Xeomin because of their formulations.

Does Daxxify Really Last Longer?

This is probably the question I hear most often....

The honest answer?

Sometimes...but not for everyone.

Some early studies suggested Daxxify could last significantly longer than other wrinkle relaxers, but that hasn't been my experience for the majority of patients. In my practice, most patients enjoy longevity that's very similar to Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin.

I do have a small group of patients who consistently get about one additional month of results, but I believe it's important to set realistic expectations rather than promise something that isn't typical.

Several factors can influence how long any neurotoxin lasts, including your metabolism, muscle strength, treatment history, and even zinc supplementation, which has been studied for its potential role in neurotoxin longevity.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Daxxify?

The short answer? Almost everyone.

Patients who previously loved Dysport often appreciate Daxxify because it has a similarly fast onset.

Many begin seeing results within about five days, with full results evaluated around two weeks after treatment.

Whether you're completely new to wrinkle relaxers or you've tried several different brands over the years, Daxxify can be an excellent option depending on your goals.

Is Daxxify More Expensive?

One thing I never want is price to be the deciding factor when choosing a neurotoxin.

I've priced all of our wrinkle relaxers to be essentially equivalent from the patient's perspective. That allows us to focus on choosing the product that's best for your anatomy and treatment goals- not whichever happens to cost less.

Patients also ask whether Daxxify units are the same as Botox units...

The good news is you don't need to worry about that.

Determining the correct dose is part of my job, and I'll recommend the appropriate product and amount based on your individual needs.

What If I'm Concerned About Resistance?

If you've noticed your neurotoxin doesn't seem to last as long as it once did (or you're concerned about resistance in the future) we'll absolutely talk about it during your consultation.

For many of those patients, I recommend Daxxify or Xeomin because of their formulations. The most important thing to remember is that there isn't one "best" neurotoxin- only the one that's the best fit for your anatomy, treatment history, and goals.

My Final Thoughts on Daxxify...

Daxxify is an excellent option for many patients, but it isn't automatically the right choice for everyone. The best wrinkle relaxer is the one that's right for your anatomy, your treatment history, and your long-term goals.
